The house on top of a volcano.

Looking north while traveling west of the Fort Cady exit on I-40, I would often see this house in the distance. A few years ago I asked a friend about the house and he told me who owned it.
That piece of information made me even more curious to find the route to the house on the hill. We approached from the west driving first on pavement, then graded dirt and finally across the playa of Dale Lake.
A closer look of this unique house from the gate. Photos of the interior of the house found here.
Instead of all the serious warning signs Jan thought that Mr. Howser should have invited any visitors who managed to reach his home in for a glass of tea. An article about previous owners and the construction of the home found here.
The location of the late Huell Burnley Howser's Newberry Springs house was more remote than we thought but worth the drive to get a closer look.

  1. I have to pass this post on to my husband, he adored Huell Howser.
