North West Coast Trek - Oregon Pt 1
Mount Shasta from Interstate 5 as our journey begins.
Our goal: To drive the coast from the Oregon/California border to Canada.
Crossing Ash Creek Bridge on the Klamath River. A plaque on the bridge says it was built in 1901.
Panorama from the bridge.
Snow blocks our route near Bolan Mountain, Oregon.
As it nears dusk we drive a forest road looking for a camp with a view.
Coast Camp 1 - 42° 2'31.48"N, 123°29'3.68"W Near the Oregon/California border.
Randolph Collier Tunnel, US 199, headed west towards Crescent City, CA.
The Ship Ashore Resort. Three times in my life I have driven by the Caritas/Garnet and each time it has been closed.
A long time ago I watched a partial solar eclipse by using the pinhole effect of leaves.
Cape Sebastian, Oregon.
Brandon Beach, Oregon
Brandon Beach, Oregon
Conde McCullough Memorial Bridge crossing Coos Bay
McCullough Memorial Bridge from Jordan Cove Road as we returned from Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area. Winds were gusting to 40 mph making the area a bit inhospitable.
The Oregon Dunes at another location. Hundreds of 4x4's, and ATV's made it an easy decision to continue up the coast. Not complaining about the mechanized hordes, it was a holiday weekend.
FWC and the Heceta Head Lighthouse.
